LeapFrog has announced a new version of its LeapPad Explorer tablet for kids, the LeapPad Ultra. The newest LeapPad toy tablet features some significant upgrades and will retail for about $150. The new LeapPad Ultra tablet is recommended for kids ages 4 to 9, and the device works with LeapFrog’s library of games and apps.

The Leapfrog’s new LeapPad Ultra tablet features a child-safe web browser, wi-fi, a 7-inch touchscreen, and 8GB of internal storage and and new apps. The kids tablet also comes with a built-in, rechargable Lithium-ion battery – which will last for up to nine hours of active playing time before needing a recharge. Added features include a larger screen, parental controls, and Wi-Fi capability.

The new LeapPad Ultra tablet is recommended for kids ages 4 to 9, and the device works with LeapFrog’s library of games and apps. This includes more than 800 games, apps, eBooks, videos and music that pertain to topics like math, science, reading and creativity.

The 7-inch tablet uses a kid-friendly browser “LeapSearch by Zui”. LeapSearch includes videos, images and websites which are child-safe. The Ultra has parental controls, such as a four-digital PIN and a syncing feature for adding content.

The LeapPad Ultra can also connect peer-to-peer with other LeapPad Ultra tablets across Wi-Fi, meaning kids can use compatible apps with friends.

The newest LeapPad Ultra is available in green or pink for about $150 – and is predicted to be a top Christmas tablet for 2013!
